Fleas and Worms in Cats

Fleas and worms can be a real nuisance for your cat, they are not just an inconvenience but can present them with real health problems. If left untreated, some of these parasites can make your cat seriously ill and in some cases prove fatal. Regular preventative treatments will protect your cat throughout the year.

CVets are here to help you and your pet, so we offer FREE
flea and worm checks for your pet by one of our nurses.
This will include us weighing your dog so that we can ensure that we give the correct dosage.

Preventing and treating fleas

Some of the flea products can be bought over the counter and dispensed by the nursing team. Other, stronger products that we stock can only be dispensed by a vet. We also can advise you on products suitable for kittens, nursing queens and adult cats. If you have more than one cat in your home, it’s vital that you treat all of the cats as fleas can transfer from one cat to another.

Did you know that 90% of fleas live in the house? So it’s vital that you treat your environment too! Our staff will be able to advise you on suitable products to protect your home as well which are pet-safe.

Preventing and treating worms

Cats and kittens must be wormed regularly too and it’s really important to get the right product for your pet. We stock a range of worming products including tablets, pastes and spot-ons and our staff will ensure that you are given the correct dosage for your cat.

Preventing and Treating Ticks

Ticks can also cause health problems for your cat and if you discover one on your cat, you must make sure that it is removed completely, otherwise the head may still remain attached and cause infection. We have tick removers for sale in our surgeries or one of our nursing team will be happy to remove it for you free of charge. Your cat must also be treated with products suitable for preventing ticks in the future.
